Background: Cognitive errors have been presented as effective factors in the creation and continuation of obsessive–compulsive disorder and social anxiety disorder. Psychological resilience is an important factor in the tolerance of cognitive errors. Objective: The present study aimed to compare cognitive errors and the psychological resilience of patients with social anxiety disorder and those with obsessive–compulsive disorder. Methods: This cross-sectional study investigated a total of 60 patients, 30 with social anxiety disorder and 30 with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), seen at a hospital in Zanjan city, Iran, in 2017. Participants were aged between 15 and 50 years. Participants were chosen using convenience sampling and on the basis of psychiatrist diagnosis and structured diagnostic interviews (SCID-I, II) according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The Cognitive Errors Questionnaire (CET) and the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) were used to assess the variables. Results: A significant difference was observed between the two patient groups in the cognitive errors components (P ≤ 0.05). In patients with OCD, the highest average rate of cognitive errors was related to catastrophizing and splitting error. In patients with SAD, the highest mean rate of cognitive errors was related to catastrophizing. There was no significant difference in psychological resilience between the two groups. Conclusion: Cognitive errors play an important role in OCD and social anxiety disorder (SAD). OCD patients were observed to make more cognitive errors than SAD patients. However, psychological resilience was equal between both groups.

Background: For over 2 decades, Ghana’s Ministry of Health (MOH) has been resolved to continuously improve the quality of healthcare in a cost-effective manner. Strategies have been adopted to enhance client satisfaction with healthcare services and delivery.Objective: The current study examined patient satisfaction with the quality of healthcare in Ghana by comparing healthcare services at the University of Ghana Hospital (UGH) and the University of Cape Coast Hospital (UCH).Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in 2014-2015 with primary data collected from patients at UGH and UCH. Structured questionnaires were administered based on the stratified and convenience sampling methods to select patients receiving healthcare at the outpatients departments of the 2 hospitals. Descriptive statistics and linear regression analysis were used to analyze the data with the help of SPSS version 20.Results: The findings indicated that empathy (β=0.14, P=0.003), communication (β=0.26, P=0.00), culture (β=0.17, P=0.008), tangibles (β=0.12, P=0.040), and priority (β=0.18, P=0.002) are significant predictors of patient satisfaction.Conclusion: Management at the 2 studied hospitals should streamline their quality healthcare policies based on the dimensions of effective communication, empathy, culture, tangibles, and priority to enhance patient satisfaction.

Accessibility to all levels of information technology has experienced rapid progress in recent years, particularly in the health sector. Rapid penetration into this technology has led to changes in lifestyles and changes in the working procedures of institutions. In 2014, the number of Internet users reached 3 billion, and this number is predicted to exceed 8 billion in 2018. Statistics estimate the number of Iranian users of the Internet to be about 45 million. In 2014, more than 80% of Internet users searched for health information. Today, the Internet plays a vital role in providing such health services as education, disease management, support, basic medical treatment decisions, and doctor-patient communication.

Background: Intravenous catheterization is a routine technique in medical centers which can cause diverse problems such as thrombophlebitis. Objective: This study aimed to resolve replacement scheduling and proper cannula diameter and position issues for intravenous catheters. Methods: In this 2015 experimental cohort study, 232 hospitalized patients receiving medication intravenously were assessed for the occurrence of thrombophlebitis (TF). Involved TF factors such as age, gender, cannula size, site of cannula in hand veins, duration of usage, and underlying disease were evaluated in patient and healthy control groups. Results: TF developed in 55 of 232 patients. The percentages of incidence were similar in men and women (30%). The patient mean age was lower than that of the control, but the difference was not significant. Average weight was significantly higher in the patient group than in the control group. The average duration of cannula in situ was significantly lower in patients than in the control group. The highest rate of TF occurred in the narrowest cannula usage and dorsal hand vein positions. The mean time of developing TF was lower than that indicated in CDC guidelines. Furthermore, 24 patients with TF (34%) had diabetes mellitus. Conclusion: In the current study, the percentage of TF occurrence was higher in patients with weight increase, use of narrower cannulae, dorsal hand vein positions, and a history of diabetes. Furthermore, TF can develop within 72 hours. It was concluded that some patients may be more susceptible to TF and require more care. Accordingly, the CDC guidelines’ offered scheduling for intravenous catheter replacement is not trustworthy.

Background: A patient's satisfaction with nursing service is one of the main indices for measuring the quality and effectiveness of health care. Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate and compare patients' satisfaction with the nursing service provided in selected training hospitals in Tehran. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in 2013 using Patient's Satisfaction Standard questionnaire (PSI) in 7 selected training hospitals in Tehran. In this study, 336 patients discharged from 4 major units of each hospital namely internal, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology and pediatrics, were selected and studied randomly. Data were analyzed using the SPSS18 software. Results: The results of this study showed that the pediatric unit recorded maximum patients’ satisfaction with nursing care with a mean and SD of 3.78±0.68, while the surgery unit recorded minimum satisfaction with a mean and SD of 3.35±0.65. Also, a significant difference was observed between patients' satisfaction with nursing service in major units such as internal, surgery, obstetrics and pediatrics (P=0.015). Conclusion: However, significant differences were found in terms of degree of satisfaction with nursing service between the major units of the hospitals. These differences may be due to the characteristics of providing care, unit, patient or family. Therefore, future research should be conducted in order to identify the cause of the difference in satisfaction between the different hospital units.
